As a business that provides health services, it is not uncommon to have to operate 24 hours a day. During that time, the health nurses had to take turns on guard for 8 to 10 hours in 2-3 sessions daily.

Based on research from the National Library of Medicine, only 27% of the working hours of health nurses each day are for checking (assessing) and providing care (giving care) to patients. The rest is spent on bureaucratic matters; 35% on documenting, 21% on coordinating, and 17% on administration.

On the other hand, health nurses have a high occupational risk. Some sources state that health nurses occupy the 3rd position as a profession prone to injury, and 53% are due to fatigue.

Therefore, it is necessary to optimise the performance of nurses to focus on providing medical services and minimise the risk of injury with ergonomic implementation.

Optimization of Medical Services with Ergotron

There are many ways to optimise medical services. But the most significant thing is to apply and move ergonomically.

The application of ergonomic principles in medical services has many significant impacts, as follows:

  1. Increase efficiency and productivity, because it allows health nurses to access and mobilise service needs quickly and easily.
  2. Promote the welfare of medical personnel, because it puts healthcare workers in a comfortable position and reduces the risk of injury on the job.
  3. Improving the quality of service, because health nurses are more focused on their primary tasks without being distracted by technical problems.
  4. Reducing treatment costs, because the risk of injury to health care workers is minimal so that costs can be reduced in the long term.

Applying ergonomics to healthcare brings significant benefits to healthcare workers, patients, and the business as a whole. Ergonomic design can create a safer, more comfortable and more efficient work environment, making health services optimal.

One form of ergonomic implementation can be started by using a medical cart from Ergotron. Illustrations can be seen in the following image.
